Cambodia Casinos
September 14th, 2024 by Quinn

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat casino, highlights 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel compound that contains a number of conveniences aside from the gambling den, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
