Cambodia Gambling Halls
February 10th, 2025 by Quinn

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is illegal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are supposedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that features numerous luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
