Cambodia Gambling Halls
March 27th, 2017 by Quinn

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of most borders.

The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that contains many conveniences in addition to the gambling den, which offers ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
