Cambodia Gambling Dens
October 3rd, 2023 by Quinn

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not legal. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently required to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous amenities in addition to the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
